i'm excited for both studio quality recordings, but also to see which slides sophie uses next. is that weird or understandable? That's completely understandable. I've spent way too much time contemplating if there's a method to his slide picking (and I came up with a crazy fan theory for it), and according to the fan theory, the two next slides will be in the shape of an S and an H, but that leaves two more slides, so my theory has been disproven. Basically, he withheld music and artwork for so long that I went completely insane.

If this theory is correct, the extra two letter could be a "M" and an additional "S" (ie SOPHIEMSMSMSM). but like you said... could be we are going insane.

Really can't wait until he can leave Numbers. Feel like they've been a big roadblock for material being released. Could be, but I think it's more likely Sophie's choice (sorry, couldn't help it): since that email someone got on here (forgot who! sorry person ) said that it was Sophie and not the label that was making copyright claims on unreleased songs, and since he supposedly has tons of unreleased material but doesn't drop much new stuff at his shows, I think it must be perfectionism and not wanting his stuff out there until it's just right.

I totally get that vibe too. He kinda reminds me of Jai Paul in that way and many other ways as well.

It was probably my post from when I spoke to him at the Resident Advisor SXSW show. I can't find the original post but he was saying that he wanted to release more than what he already had released, but said that the label had a "plan" or a difference in vision for the releases, and brought up that PCMusic (as a label) would give him more flexibility. He didn't seem to worried about it though and I didn't want to post about him talking "bad" about the label because he really wasn't... just had differences. Really can't wait until he can leave Numbers. Feel like they've been a big roadblock for material being released. I wouldn't necessarily call it a roadblock, more just a very long road with not many stops inbetween

It would be cool to see him follow Rustie and Hudson Mohawke's lead and go from Numbers to Warp, that would be huge for his rep and they release a lot more music than Numbers does. I just don't want him to sign for a major label and get thrown into limbo. Sophie seems like a very canny guy of course, but look what happened to Big Boi, an established star who had to sit on an album for years cause the label decided it was 'too artsy'. Numbers isn't the biggest label but at least he's got to have near 100% creative freedom there.

QT is already on it, and they seem good about letting artists control their image and stuff. The perfect situation would be for him to join PC Music, but idk if that's something that will happen.

XL would be really good, they're owned by the same company that owns my 2 favorite rock labels (Rough Trade and Matador).
