That's really cool!! A picture would be nice - and on the questions front, if he revealed the name of that song, what is the first one on the Boiler Room set called? I'd ask when if ever it'd be released but don't want to push my luck. Also I'm more inspired to check out Richard X's music with this information That's the one that was up on YouTube with the title "Physical," right? That's actually what I was asking about when he gave me the card. It was a funny conversation, he said something like, "You want me to tell you some things? I'll tell you some things if you want." and I was dying of anticipation to know what things he was about to tell me, but he just gave me the card and said to email him lol. Kind of anticlimactic. Here's the picture, hopefully this works:

That's an amazing looking card, funny how he just has a piece of equipment and cards in a suitcase.. definitely going to try and talk to him more next time he's down in Austin. They all seem more open to talking with people than I thought they would be.

I would definitely encourage you to go for it, trilliam. They are all very friendly and Sophie seems very open to talking about his music. I only asked him about the song title, the rest of the information he volunteered on his own.

Is SOPHIE2.MOV the Charli XCX collab? I've been waiting for that to happen for so long and if that's it, it sounds really cool. actually most of those vids (except the last one obviously) sound like they could be Charli so i d k where are you seeing this? docs.google.com/file/d/0B4PJuhE7XMyjZFRUd3p5YUlYXzA/edit

That's the one that was up on YouTube with the title "Physical," right? You might be thinking of his Paris Suit Yourself remix, which quite prominently features the word "physical" (though I wouldn't trust YouTube to get anything about SOPHIE accurate, so we might be on the same page here). The one you got an answer about was this one - I just could not parse out what she was saying after "everytime we touch" but thanks to you I know know it's "[feeling?] ultraviolet love"! A cursory search about Richard X (aka his Wikipedia page) reveals that he came up during the early-2000's "mashup" scene where you could become an overnight star by pairing together the right acapella and instrumental from Soulseek. Even by those standards he was awfully successful - he "produced" the Sugababes' UK #1 single "Freak Like Me", a remake of his mashup between Adina Howard's song of the same name and Tubeway Army's "Are 'Friends' Electric?", with the Sugababes redoing Adina's vocals. He had a few other sizable mashup-based hits with various acts before turning to original production, where he's done decent but less commercially-electrifying work with some recognizable artists (most prominently a few tracks on M.I.A.'s Arular). I'm guessing SOPHIE's a fan of something along that timeline and reined him in to work on a song that he might've thought sounded a little too much like a vocal version of "Nothing More To Say" (though personally I love "Glow" - as I'd previously nicknamed it - just the way it is, and appreciate that I'll at least always have the Boiler Room rip to cherish). All in all this is exciting news, and I wish I'd gotten something as interesting as this out of my brief chat with him. As for this mysterious potential email Q&A, if I were being selfish I'd ask if there were any strings he could pull to get a 20-year-old into Pop Cube, but as far as actually pertinent questions go: considering how he and the PC Music crew now have a decent-sized flock of starry-eyed twentysomethings trying to follow in their footsteps, what sort of things does he wish these nascent imitators would take to heart from his music? Anything he wishes they'd emphasize more? Less? (And also I'd like confirmation that the "Higher" track from Boiler Room hasn't been stripped for parts, and MOST IMPORTANTLY that the DDR-announcer vocals remain intact)

Though, yes, the one I was asking about has been unofficially attributed as "Physical" I figure it's just confusion with the Won't K remix following as champiness said

Though, yes, the one I was asking about has been unofficially attributed as "Physical" I figure it's just confusion with the Won't K remix following as champiness said I think we meant the same one. I have absolutely no idea why the YouTube uploader titled it Physical because AFAIK it doesn't even have that word in the lyrics anywhere. They were probably confusing it with the Won't K remix I guess. This is the only one of the unreleased songs I couldn't brainstorm an obvious name for based on the lyrics... -EDIT- Also re: Higher, it's definitely made its way into some of the sets I heard this week. QT played it on Saturday night. Not sure if it's unchanged from the boiler room version. (We're talking about the song with vocals that just say "higher and higher and higher" right?) Second edit lol: champiness, I'm pretty sure the lyrics you're missing says "every time we touch *got that* ultraviolet love." Later the song says "that UV love, that makes me feel alive" so I was pretty confident I was right but it was nice to be confirmed.

I anted to rip the party zone QT track ;_; Well you can listen to it right here, right now, because it's from an old Dux Content project: soundcloud.com/duxkidz/party-on-my-own-feat-raffy(I think the mix from QT's set might be a different version, though - there's some links to the footage a few pages back in this thread, I think, I just haven't downloaded them yet. That's actually where the videos on Youtube came from - you can thank some of the members here!)

Richard x is amazing and him getting linked to PC Music is just fuel for my dad's fire about PC Music being pretty unoriginal

I don't think their music is meant to be original. It's more of a collage of things they like.

DUDE, she recognized you, and you got to be on the boiler room stream? i'm mega jealous This past week has been like a dream, I literally can't believe how lucky I've been. One thing I thought people on the forum would like to know is that the song "Bodyrock" is actually called "Ultraviolet Love". I suspected this based on the lyrics but Sophie confirmed it. He also told me that he's working on that song with someone called Richard X and that they will likely redo the vocals, so I'm guessing it will be a while yet before that one's released. I had a few more questions for him but he was in a bit of a hurry so he gave me his card and said I could email him. It's the same email publicly available online, but since he said he'd answer my questions, I thought I'd ask if anyone here wants me to ask something in particular. I can't make any promises but I feel like you guys deserve to share this opportunity. His card is really nicely designed BTW, it's pink and plastic with rounded edges, more like a credit card than a business card. I can post a picture of anyone's interested. He had a suitcase that was full of them and the only other thing in it was a single synth (or some piece of equipment, I don't know much about that stuff.) NICE! i doubt he'd answer the questions i have, but could you ask him... 1) does he have a full length coming? 2) is fizz being released soon? 3) new QT material :> but i doubt he'd spoil all his plansss EDIT: OH, and ask him about the kyary track! and koi! when are those both coming out?

When I asked with him at the Resident Advisor showcase about any new releases or the next ones.... he didn't want to speak on or even know any specifics. He did say that he wants to release a lot of material, but he was having a tough time with Numbers at the moment. I do not want to put words in Sam's mouth that he was "unhappy" being at their control (like most artists are with their record label) but he was just saying that they have a vision and he has a different one.... but they aren't necessarily on the same page. Hope that helps.
