I'm just so disgusted. I've never been more ashamed of my country. This represents a fundamental realignment in American and global politics, and I have no idea what the future holds. That's the most terrifying part of it all. The election technically isn't over yet, but regardless of the outcome (which is overwhelmingly looking like a Trump victory) this has been a victory for racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and homophobia.

this is really making me anxious guys I don't blame you. Everytime I try to come up with a silver lining I end up feeling more embittered. Everything went wrong and no one was prepared at all. The one thing I am holding onto is that no matter how much anyone blusters on about making our country the way it used to be, there's nothing they can really do about demographic change. The power of the white identity politics voting bloc can only get weaker. But that's going to take decades to really change things, and it's hard not to feel totally helpless now.

It's completely disgusting to see that racism, sexism, and overall bigotry is still the majority's state of mind. Even so, I can't have sympathy for the american people. I fear for the world, but I don't think the Trumpdom will come to a full term. He's already got a ton of scandals behind him, and they'll probably keep coming, the difference being that now he's the POTUS and something unforgivable is bound to happen and make him stand down. I just hope that happens before any dramatic changes in the world's scenario.

This is gonna come off really shitty. But I'm black, specifically Haitian American meaning my parents are immigrants from Haiti, and I'm gay. And I can assure you this was expected. At least for me. Because I know where white america stands. Majority of Hillary's votes were people of color and youth. She didn't have lots of white votes. Trump got white votes by a landslide. Majority of the country voted for Trump. Which mean the vast Majority of white people in America agree with everything Trump says and does. Hillary kinda did this to herself. She didn't realize she got the black vote once she was the only nominee. And so she fought for months to get our vote. And even used famous black people as props. When in reality she had to convince her own white people. Nobody likes Hillary. Trump was just whatever. The media definitely favored Hillary and worked on fear against trump. The media made it seem Hillary was going to win. When in reality America is so fucking racist and homophobic and sexist. Like this is Amerikka. The same country that has yet to disband the KKK because of the fact that there are people in high places in the government who are members of said group. This was expected. Majority of white america which is pretty much majority of the country voted for this. And like hopefully finally people are seeing we don't live in this fake "post racial" society bullshit they lied to the world about in the 90's. This is real fucking shit. America has never and will never ever ever be this peaceful fantastic utopia of liberalism. Like it was all a lie. And now we have the product of what a true American is as a leader. A white rich male that is racist, sexist, homophobic. Though I can say he has some interesting plans regarding the economy. And I wish everyone would get over the fucking wall at Mexico, there's already one that's there AND there's electric fences there. Long rant but this is the reality and I wish people would accept that the world isn't as perfect as the media portrays especially as a person of color in the LGBT, America barely made any progress at all. This presidential election is just confirmation that the potential of progress isn't even wanted by the majority of the country. Hopefully people can start realizing that all these racial movements are for a reason. Like literally straight white liberals are finally feeling what people of color and LGBT (that actually care for their own rights) have to deal with all their lives. Worry and unsafety and unsureness of a tomorrow.
Also de-Trumping would make That Pence guy become president and he's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy worse than Trump.

Actually, according to Google, Hillary had the most votes, but your electoral system is weird. It goes by like electoral votes. So like idk how to explain it but like you need 270 electoral votes and she was way behind. Trump was at like 212 and she was at 168. And that's when people knew he was gonna win. She didn't have enough votes though. She needed a little over 200,000 more and those votes went to a third party. Then 11,000 ballots had other things written in. Trump was a shoe-in since he got the nomination. White America is trash af and they know it.

Yeah, I kind of get it, but it's still very weird that a so-called democracy doesn't go solely by the people's votes, don't you think?

This election is actually different than usual cause usually the president is prechosen by the White House. And so Hillary was that chosen one. But they didn't expect Trump to get to where he is. Which is why Obama and lots of politicians and media was all being payed to basically persuade Hillary but overall majority of the country voted for who they wanted. Donald Beat the media. He beat the system.

Yeah, I kind of get it, but it's still very weird that a so-called democracy doesn't go solely by the people's votes, don't you think? The electoral college is an extremely dated institution that was basically founded back in the day as an instrument that acted as a check against the tyranny of the majority and gave elites an instrument to install their own choice as president regardless of public opinion. It made sense then, when America was an overwhelmingly rural and uneducated country. It's been obsolete for a very very long time, and its presence makes it possible for a candidate to win the popular vote but lose the presidency. We saw the same situation back in 2000 when the Democrat Al Gore won the popular vote but lost to George Bush following weeks of vote recounts in Florida and Supreme Court litigation that gave Bush the presidency. Of course, the supreme irony about all of this is that (1) Trump was claiming throughout the election that the system was rigged against him, and yet he wins the presidency without winning the popular vote through a quirk in the electoral system and (2) that an elitist political institution was responsible for the election of a populist demagogue who is despised by the US political elite.

I'm so fucking pissed at all of this!! WHAT THE FUCK? Why does our electoral system have to be like this?? HILLARY HAD MORE VOTES!! And as an LGBT teen, I'm scared I won't get the same protections in school as I used to. I'm seriously contemplating moving to canada at this point.

I'm not only worried about myself as a gay half middle eastern teenager, but I'm also worried about my family, half of which is comprised of muslim immigrants from Iran. I'm concerned for the entire LGBT+ community, and women, and all nonwhite people.
