What I mean (doot doot doot) is that CupcakKe is a meme in that people find out about her thru social media and word of mouth because she is way too funny, absurd, and OTT for the regular pop/hip-hop media. QT and Bip Ling write simple songs based around single concepts, and are closer to what our parents would call "novelty artists", like CupcakKe people mostly find out about them through social media and seeing their songs referenced by other people. All of them combine genuine artistry and skills with surreal personas that are too weird or dirty or annoying for mainstream tastes
idk.... maybe "meme" isnt the word for it, but every good variation of ___ pop was taken in the 80s.

Hyper Pop? this random dude in orlando made a playlist with a bunch of pc music songs on it claiming to outline the future genre of hyper pop in 2014, and it seems like the name is even more fitting now than back then www.bodytalkparty.org/playlist-new-hyper-pop-music/

I don't think they are doing much anything different. It seems like they are just kinda doing what the early 2000's pop culture was like. They had songs about anything, one hit wonders, well thought out tracks, the sexual female rappers (basically almost all of them), the over hyper masculine male pop stars that had a little feminine in them. I think they are just rehashing the simple themes of simpler times. Charli is definitely bringing back the whole EDM dance party wave we had 2008-2012 where everybody including hip hop people were making dance music and LMFAO was thriving, RedOne and David Guetta were lit, Rihanna was making dance music, Lady Gaga was upbeat and wild. And there were barely any downtempo tracks in the top40. They are bringing back old themes and modernizing them. I think it's their way of coping with everything going on. Cupcakke doesn't really fall into this cause on her album she addresses the culture and such. She's just a funny girl.

Yeah I mean categorizing is useful but over-categorizing makes it lose all the meaning.
