I feel like most of the people I show PC Music songs to, are not very interested or they have an opinion of it that is negative. These are people that are interested in music that is electronic, so I'd believe that maybe they would be able to have a more open mind, but it's not so. Is it just a difference of taste or lack of understandin?
Side-note: I'm the psychopath that, ever since hearing some of the most brutal PC tracks about 2 years ago, has been really only interested in what they release and hate most new pop.

Well, I don't know... I guess I'm talking about a sample of people I've interacted with that I REALLY though would enjoy heir music. Even someone who LOVES Sophie... I showed them an EasyFun track and they said, "I'm just not that into it."

I think its really just some people's preference or expectations to hear (or want to hear) certain things in the music that they listen to. easyFun is pretty different sound wise imo compared to Sophie even if they borrow similar elements at times. Also a lot of PC Music's production is kind of a puzzle, and some people don't have the ear or don't appreciate the dense layering of some of the tracks. Just an observation but I've noticed how many fans of PC are producers themselves. Music producers have a different way of listening to or processing music just as a filmmaker would in terms of appreciating films vs an average theater goer.

I think a lot of people hear pc music and assume it's kind of pop trash, it's too cutesy, or corny. And that's true, on the surface. I know the first time I heard hey qt I thought it was awful, sounded like some kind of ddr Barbie girl crap. Really it was bipp that started to make me wonder, hey maybe there is something else here. Bipp is very non traditional in ways that appealed to me, from bipp I moved to ag cooks stuff and after that gfoty. Although sonically it was stuff that made Me a little uncomfortable, the spirit of it all reminded me of something like animal collective, and the more I listened the more I fell in love.
I started showing it to friends, who were repulsed initially, they needed a little talking into to really get into it.
I think at its core, the sound of pc music (and please don't pretend it all sounds so radically different) is stuff we've kind of been conditioned to dismiss. For this reason alone, they've really changed the way I now approach music, and have made me a fan of a lot of pop music I probably would've hated 5 years ago

Yeah, the journey for me specifically was Bipp by Sophie, and then SoundCloud played Friday Night by GFOTY after I had Bipp in my like a year or so prior and I fell in love with Friday Night's melody... especially the final chorus, and was interested ever since. Share YOUR PATHWAY ASSIMLATION!!
Friday Night is STILL one of my favorite tracks... it might even be number 1 for me. GFOTY really set the bar for me. She will always be my favorite PC member. She is my lock and home screen eternally

Sometimes I wonder if Quinn and Hannah are secretly in love and are sharing each other's feelings through song. I guess I ship QTxHD.
And I hope everything dark about QT lately is about her feelings toward HD and how maybe they aren't interacting as much as QT wants to.
I feel the same way about AG and Spinee too...
And I feel CHAD is about how Polly's boy cheated on her.

PC Music overall comes off abrasive and annoying. But presenting it in a way that Charli does and Danny L Harle and Hannah does makes it much more easy to the ears. Danny L Harle gets away with it cause he still has That EDM feel and the vocals aren't as pitchy and such. So songs like Broken Flowers, Super Natural & Me4U are easier on the ears compared to the others. People don't like Hannah as much cause they say she sounds lmao me a child and that she sounds like music for little kids. But even so, her music is still somewhat pleasing to the ears. Specifically Fade Away. It passes as a house or trance track. If you just tell someone this is like a dance track, they'll get it. If you say, Hi or Attachment is a pop track, they'll kinda be confused because it's not conventional. People who listen to electronic music are obviously more likely open to it. The more pc music shapes their sound, it'll be more receivable. But at the same time it'll seem more "generic" to us. But we've already seen this happening. Super Natural, Monopoly, Number 1 Angel, etc
But they can also still do abrasive and weird stuff as usual and just work with a semi-popular vocalist or popular vocalist. Sophie did this with Vroom Vroom EP. It was more like Sophie feat. Charli XCX and was still received well just because Charli Xcx, a known vocalist, was on it. So when people saw this, they were able to wrap their head around it as Charli XCX trying something new which introduced and prepared people to look for more things that sounded similar, the more they listened to the Vroom Vroom EP. It'd be like "I wanna find more songs like this". Which is why you always see comments after a while that's say "Does anyone know where I can find more songs like this?" And it'll have 900 likes or something cause they weren't the only ones thirsty for more. So the more they work with popular or known vocalists, the more open people are to their songs and their more weirder songs. I think. Number 1 Angel is a great start and if she releases her heavy Sophie/pcmusic sounding mixtape or album this summer, it could really be a huge gateway. Especially if there are collabs with other artists
Sorry for the long posts, I talked about this in my music business class. I played some pc music tracks and people didn't understand it. But then I played some of Number 1 Angel & Vroom Vroom EP then the played some more pc music after and people started to get it. People in general need a gateway to understanding things.

I've wondered this myself for years now. I too have played PCM's and SOPHIE's songs to my friends and usually the response is negative or they just laugh. Now why is this?
I've been trying to look this from different perspectives. Looking at it from the pop side of things, one thing I find is that sometimes the habit of PCM to break the structure of songs is too much for people. Masses are so used to, so confined to the typical formula of a song (part A-chorus-B-chorus-bridge-chorus) that hearing something else just breaks their understanding and makes them say it's rubbish. Kinda the same thing with the habit of fake drops. People listening to (mostly) EDM are again used to a certain structure of tracks and this thing they just don't get.
Then there's the type of sounds and styles that PCM uses. It's funny to note that some things in pop music are kind of "banned", due to them going out of fashion not so long ago. For example, the sounds of the 80s and beyond are cool to us, now. But 90s and early 2000s is still something that producers are avoiding. Living through those eras, I remember the big things were trance music, europop, eurodance, girl/boy bands, etc. Bands like E-type, Aqua, Britney Spears, Eiffel 65, etc. All that is hugely dismissed these days as sounding childish and embarassing. The way that PCM pulls distinct sounds (e.g. trance synths) and styles from this era makes them hard to be taken seriously by people. It was the same for me in the beginning. But it also makes you think: What is it exactly in these sounds that makes them sounds ridiculous and embarassing? Why are they banned from modern producers? Why not use them? If you can get past that, you'll realize that hey, this is good!
Another embarassing style that they pull inspiration from is nightcore. I don't think I even have to open this subject at all. Ya'll know what I'm talking about.
(okay I'm just writing a long text and I'm at work like I should do something more productive right now but to hell with it and like yeaaaahh...)
Mostly I would just say it's the unconventional structure of songs and unconventional sounds that they use. This combination is a too much to take in for many people, making them dismiss PCM as rubbish. I feel like they want to shake you and tell you to wake up from this conventional pool of music that we are all in. That there's no one who says music should be this way exactly. Then it's up to the people to either wake up to it and come to the realize something bigger. Or just not and stay in their comfort zone.
(I don't know what I'm babbling on about....)
