"microagressions" this is one of those things that makes me wonder how the younger generation of gay men--so thoroughly indoctrinated into the preposterous victim culture of the 21st century--would have ever found the resilience and strength to fight the pervasive overt extreme bigotry of the 80s & 90s. while routinely attending funerals of dead friends as the rest of society was hostile, completely indifferent, or stood by to made jokes in amusement over aids. Not to mention legislation against gay people that effectively diminished you to nothing more than 3rd rate citizens. i'm sorry i have no interest in listening to bullshit trite whimpering on how "microaggressive" you're interpreting me because you needed to find something new to be upset about. nothing i've said was 'microagressive'. what's sad is that people will give this bullshit hocus pocus "oppression" the time of day but not even realize that mass conglomarates & corporations make bank over selling Pride affiliated shit to you. Ok, you both are being so ignorant that you made me give a fuck and comment.
While I can see where you both are coming from, you two are also being dismissive of the major point, that is: microaggressions stack up, and when they do, they cause real damage.
@andifox, you can't possibly look at how @loveless worded their arguments against "gay men" arguing and think there isn't even a hint of homophobia behind it. It starts with that, and while it didn't in this case, it can escalate. Also, most of the time, microaggressions are the only way non LGBTQ people can express their homophobia on a LGBTQ dominated forum like this one and not be bashed for it. It's really convenient.
@loveless isn't an idiot. He knows what he did and what I am talking about, even though he's being dismissive. What baffles me is you, @andifox, a trans person (as you said), letting him off the hook for it.

You have no idea what I’ve been through or how I was treated as a child or a teen. I had food thrown at me at school every day. I was LITERALLY picked up and thrown in a trash can multiple times. My gym teacher told the class he hated me, in front of me. I was beat up on my birthday and locked in a locker because everyone thought I was gay. Guys would yell “faggot” out of their cars while I walked down the street. This is all before I was even out of the closet, let alone out as a trans woman. And when I did come out as gay at fifteen, my parent’s house was egged a few days later by I don’t even know who. I am fucked UUUUUP. I am a huge alcoholic because even at 26 all that still sticks with me and it’s not even scraping the surface of all the bullshit. So when people act like they are being OPPRESSED because someone was just a little bit shady, it comes off as totally fucking entitled. Cry me a mother fucking river |
