While the reinterpretation of certain tropes from bubblegum dance/eurodance/happy hardcore and etc of the later 90's/early 00's is one of the more intriguing aspects of the PC Music package, I'm personally of the mind that most of the reason for that is that the source material is pretty great in and of itself and I'm sure if you're on this forum there's a good chance you'd agree. So.. share your favorites? Lately I've been really crazy about Bambee, she put out a couple albums around the turn of the century and had a few songs on DDR around the same time. Looking at it today I think a lot of the songs are just really imaginative and crazy, super catchy, with lots of fun little production flourishes that elevate them to the next level. some highlights: Seventeen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EQmBQ1hHA0Cowgirl: www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8jeM61xf0MOnline: www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_iUpPBOH8MCaribbean Blue: www.youtube.com/watch?v=06iCen6HHXE

I remember when I was younger and I'd just spend hours roaming around iTunes listening to Power Music workout albums; it would be years before I actually became a "music person" proper but I had a general sense that "techno" was a thing I found pleasurable. I'd say most of their output would fit in this general area (to the extent that they'd sometimes just do soundalike versions of actual highlights of the genre), though I doubt much of it would qualify as "vintage" in any sense other than being a decade old by this point. A lot of it got taken down/shuffled around but I managed to find a repackaged version of one of my favorites recently (the original had a much better artwork than that Speed-Racer anime girl; I think it was a girl glowsticking or something). I'd particularly highlight "Galactic Rumble" for when your kitsch supplies are running low!

edited subject header to include happy hardcore specifically cause as much as I think it's inaccurate when people always bring up that term in reference to what Sophie is making there is definitely big shades of it in the discography at large. there's lots of dull happy hardcore but there is also a lot of really great stuff, here's some personal highlights Force & Styles: Pretty Green Eyes - (spinee sample source): Force & Styles: Field of Dreams - Brisk & Trixxy: Eye Opener (HUGE TRACK) - Triple J: Follow the Sun - Heaven 7: Dance Me -

yes, absolutely. Honestly I feel bad for anyone who didn't get to experience DDR 10-15 years ago in the arcades when it was popular, so many classics from the series. When I was first discovering the label all that time ago in late 2013 lol, my first comparison actually, particularly with Broken Flowers, was "This sounds like someone making updated DDR music or something, great!" Here's my smile.dk pick -

Relevant: Lil Data tweeted an Aqua track yesterday -- Doctor Jones.
Here's my favorite non-Barbie Girl Aqua song
Also here's my go to S3RL track. It gets me in a way lots of PC stuff does.

Oh god I was obsessed with DDR music. I feel like everyone will have heard my top nostalgia picks already but here we go anyway!
Wow can't believe I never knew there was a video for Butterfly until now!
^ When I first heard SOPHIE's Won't K remix, Heaven was all I could think of.
Bodyrox are quite a bit more recent and don't really fit the theme of this thread but I wanted to post this because a) it's a great video and b) the synths sound very much like a possible SOPHIE influence to me. Check out Bodyrox -Yeah Yeah as well.

Probably my favourite song from my childhood: Lolly - Viva La Radio (Bubblegum genius circa 1999/2000)

Yep that's the one I'm thinking of. I played it all the time around 2010 when I rediscovered house music. Never actually listened to the instrumental before, it feels kinda weird.
Edit: listening to everyone's picks made me think of another song. Can't remember if this was actually on DDR or if I just found it during that period of my life.
