This is awesome! Does it reveal Sophie's real name anywhere? How did you find this?

bombmagazine.org/article/6354/expanded-benefits-matthew-lutz-kinoy-and-sophieI found this page by accident (the prototype artwork caught my eye in a google image search, and I searched further and got my current avatar) and noticed a mention of Motherland and found they were from Berlin; I can't remember how exactly but this led to me finding that MySpace page through more searches. Another article I can't find right now confirmed his name is Sam but otherwise nope! That mystery is really well kept. Even in the early days his full name was never mentioned, and so be it.

Are the Motherland tracks on Myspace playing for anyone? I can't seem to get any sound even when it shows the songs playing.

They were an "indietronica" band but the tracks definitely do have some of his stylistic sensibilities, especially in the cover art (sadly low quality). Never fear; this was from before he could hire graphic designers to do his waterslides for him! I found all the photos except for "Get That Say Something" in higher resolution elsewhere on Google Images. It'sAllRight,WeAllFeelBetterInTheDark: Ghostride: Pump: I also nabbed the tracks from "Demo" through some MySpace downloader for the sake of posterity. Here they are, all properly zipped up: www.mediafire.com/download/9g7r6bqoihbvvzv/Motherland_-_Demo.zip

More Motherland for you all! soundcloud.com/ssab (scroll down a bit) I found this by exploring msmsmsm.com with the wayback machine (cheating, I know) and they appear to be Sabine Gottfried, who was a member of the band. This exploration also leads to an implication that there were two Motherland EPs - their self titled (2009) featuring Get That Say Something and Pump the Rhythm on the Floor and Rich 70% featuring "It's Alright, We All Feel Better in the Dark(Room)" and "Doesn't Really Matter, Doesn't Really Matter"
