Anyone here an of Montreal fan? They were my favorite band for years but I stopped listening to them for a long time. Now I've finally gotten back into their discography and good lord are they great. Kevin Barnes is psych-pop genius natural an ear for hooks that's up there with the likes of Paul McCartney and Alex Chilton for me. Satanic Panic, Gay Parade, Hissing Fauna, Cherry Peel, and Skeletal Lamping are all such fantastically catchy and well put-together albums that I can't stand it. Most songwriters are lucky to have one or two solid albums and OM have over a dozen under their belt. Yeeees agreed! Still would love to seem them live if they ever come around LA.

tal wuchi I saw Kevin Barnes do a solo acoustic set in LA a couple of years ago. Really incredible. Most of the stuff he played was from Hissing Fauna and Lousy with Sylvianbriar but he went into a few deep cuts as well. But daaamn The Past Is A Grotesque Animal is intense af live. howaboutno Perfect (Exceeder) is a weird song cause it's a mashup that did way better than the original songs. I guess Mason mixed it with his song Exceeder and this is the original version of Perfect, which isn't very good??? Also, idk I've never been too hot on Crapface, seems to be one of those opportunistic soundcloud accounts that hops on whatever is trendy and doesn't really do much to shake it up, but I guess he has a fanbase. Besides, Henrik The Artist's Perfect Workout is basically a remix of Perfect so having him remix it so soon after that just kinda seems redundant.

Not super poppy but I saw Foals live the other night and they were incredible. I lost my mind. Their music is REALLY good. They are to indie/alternative what Danny L Harle or Dux Content is to dance pop. Hugeness with classical techniques and great melodies and occasionally weird time signatures. Would definitely recommend Inhaler, My Number, Spanish Sahara, Olympic Airways, Providence, Milk & Black Spiders, and A Knife In The Ocean to new listeners, but their entire discography is great.
Also saw Wild Nothing who was also incredible. My favorites are Shadow and Paradise.

He's definitely been accused as one, and I can see where people are coming from, but at least Henrik has a distinct style. I guess the difference is I actually like him lol but he does have unique synth sounds and chord progressions, and even tho his stuff can be samey sometimes he experiments with his sound somewhat often too.

I really dig some of Justin Bieber's newer stuff from Purpose (2015). I never been a Justin Bieber fan and hate all his old stuff like Baby and all that crap. But a lot of his new stuff have really really sick beats. Like Where R U Now - the chorus in that is mad and What Do You Mean? is really fun too.

So I'm really showing my American-ness here, but I can't believe I've been sleeping on Kylie Minogue's work for this long. Like I always knew that Can't Get You Out of My Head was incredible, but for whatever reason (I'll blame it on Kylie's lack of exposure on American radio) I've never really followed up by listening to any of her other work. It's absolutely criminal that she never really penetrated the American market for any sustained period of time, although not entirely surprising considering she really hit her stride at a time when America was somehow still in the throes of the post-disco dance music hangover that Europe never really experienced, and Kylie's music is, for lack of a better word, quite "gay". Fever has to be one of the best pop albums ever; every track is so clean and sharp, pop music distilled to a weaponized core. I could sing the "na na na" hook from Come Into My World forever (not to mention that video is absolutely engrossing and endlessly rewatchable).

Like she's literally the epitome of a gay icon.

You have to watch her concerts. If you think her music's gay, you're in for a treat.
