oh wow. this has to be early Cook or maybe Lil Data
on the one hand the soundcloud has a Disclavier song, which would seem to indicate Cook, and the website has some of his trademark "complexity" and batshit-crazy design, but on the other hand it resembles the lil data site quite a bit
EDIT: also "ro ju" = Romeo and Juliet, which you can pick up from the Sparknotes track and some of the website pages' headers, but what about "to" and "ma?"
I keep digging deeper, this shit is hilarious
EDIT #2: ok so on one of the pages I followed this video through to a rojutoma.com
Youtube channel. It consists entirely of:
- various badly acted performances of "Romeo & Juliet," some of which have been combined and edited together in a bizarre fashion
- a high-school production of Sharman MacDonald's play "After Juliet," also poorly acted
- stock footage of fire
- home video of a girl playing piano
- demos of some preset sounds on a Casio SA 46
- a video demonstrating trippy digital graphic effects
- and the kicker:
an unlisted video that I only found because it appears 15 or so pages into the rojutoma.com website, called "VCR" and apparently shot in someone's bedroom/home studio, complete with mic, various visible pieces of music gear, shelves of CDs/DVDs/records, and tons of stuffed animals. Nothing really happens until the end where a guy does a goofy Justin Timberlake impression and gives a speech about Christmas while peeling carrots. It's mostly shots of snow outside, or the bedroom, and the dudes hanging out in it. Damned if the cameraman doesn't sound like Cook
EDIT #3: Suspicion confirmed. Check the source code from the rojutoma.com homepage. this is an early Cook project. great find!!
