Nelly Furtado is bisexual but to be honest what's the point of this thread? What difference does it make if the artist is LGBTQIA or not?

I wanna be able to support LGBT artists cause openly LGBT artists don't get as much support as they should especially those of color and transgendered people. LGBT artists don't win enough awards. Even at LGBT award shows they barely get awards, it's all allies. And it's important to hear and see something different other than the straight narrative. There's many reasons why it's important. I made this thread because I felt like I myself needed to support LGBT artists more and LGBT voices more especially after the shooting at the gay club in Orlando this past weekend. Allies are always saying they support LGBT but never give LGBT a chance to shine. And I feel LGBT would rather support straight women than their own community's people. I feel this should be obvious seeing as LGBT artists barely get shine besides on the Internet. its obviously getting better but we should expand our horizons. I used LGBT acronym like a hundred times lol

You cited Azealia Banks (which I didn't knew was LGBTQIA+), and as much as I like her music, she's a total bigot, and shouldn't be supported just because she's queer. But to which it's own.

Yeah I mean obviously pick and choose what you like out of the LGBT artists. I mean majority of the people I like EDM wise or anything are pretty shitty people as it turns out but I'm too busy to care. Azealia is super openly Bi and she finally finally finally learned her lesson. But who am I to judge her if I've said some of the things she's said amongst my friends. But that's a whole different convo TBH. It's just to expand my horizon. Being open. And it's good to support LGBT if you happen to fall into the community. You know, even if the person is shitty, they can always learn to not be and its usually cause they've just been fucked up. Like I can't stand a lot of gay people because of their ignorance and whatever but I'm gay and they're gay and I support we are both having similar struggles in this society but personally I can't stand them. But when needed I'll stand with them. For me it's just I don't listen to many LGBT artists because the few that get press make like basic generic music this why I made this thread cause we all listen to different music and I'm already seeing artists I never heard of before. Sorry for the long post. It's late and idk what I'm even typing, I'm just doing it. But yeah support and protect LGBT at all costs. You might like an artist mentioned that I may not like. As long as it's LGBT and you like it and can support it then it's all good in the hood.

music (and art and literature and everything) becomes better if you find out the creator is lgbtq and worse if you find out they're not it's really that simple tbh

LGBTQ has always been ahead in music, art and culture. Straight people and mainstream culture have been behind and continue to be behind.

There's nothing wrong the straight narrative. It's just not the only narrative out there. But it's the only narrative being shoved down our throats since birth. So I think it's good to hear and see something that represents other types of people and not just straight people. And obviously if the music is good that's a bonus. But everyone has different tastes. And there are queer artists in all the genres of music. And plus why not celebrate the driving force of mainstream culture. Straight people have been biting off LGBT for the past 20 years. Might as well support the source of all of that. And seeing as LGBT artists don't really get that much support unless they look a certain way, it's good to see other things. It's also good to support your LGBT community. Cause at the end of the day we are a community of people and it'd be nice for once if the LGBT community could make an Gay or trans artists be just as big as they do for the bisexual women and cis women. Representation is very important especially cause growing up (in my age group I'm 19) we didn't have gay people in anything at all TBH. I never had that representation of how normal being LGBT is. Could've saved me a lot. Just want to share the love. It's even valuable that we even have so many LGBT artists out there cause not too long ago it was taboo. So I think it's important to celebrate that. And TBH Azealia is queen of promblematic. She's done it all. And she destroyed everything she worked for. And she just revealed it was all planned. She's formed a large apology. And has gotten it together and even changed her behavior and is finally starting to become a good person that she needed to be. She must've started therapy cause her actions reflected her own pains and insecurities and she must have gotten them taken care of or is in the process of it. Her music is amazing though. So who cares. I think it's good to actually visualize a downfall and then see a person grow into the person they were meant to be.

Kinda slight off-topic, but one of the things that always bugged my was the demographic of pop music listeners, especially pop "divas". Maybe because is my ~niche~, but the greatest part of pop diva fans seems to be in the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, and it is a huge market, arguably the biggest music market in the world. What is really the biggest demographic of these type of artists? Teen girls? Are they really that big of a driving force to the music industry, which moves billions of dollars worldwide?

For pop girls, I think it's a mixture of LGBT, more so gay men, and teenage girls or just women in general and then the rest is like everybody else. Cause obviously they are reaching different people with the radio and such. For males it's like the reverse. It's a mostly girl fanbase and then the rest is everybody else. Now this is just for America, other countries might be the same but it seems straight males in those countries seem to be more open with obsessing with female artists or like open to going to these shows and stuff. Unlike America it's kinda different.

It's just such a wonder to me that people without some kind of "real" income could be such massive consumers.
