Has SOPHIE been playing this live? Where has this already been heard previously?

i'm thinking "IDL" is supposed to sound like "ideal" but also it looks like "IDM". it's pretty funny to me because there's already been a comparison to Deadmau5 and it definitely draws from other EDM music (which i feel like a lot of IDM artists detest). there's like the hyper-pretentious air surrounding IDM despite it still being dance music. this all hinges on the title actually being a nod to IDM, but i think it's funny nonetheless! i'm fairly sure i either heard a recording of this from a live show or saw SOPHIE play it at the Echoplex or both (not helpful lol).

does anybody want to start a collaborative google doc to find all the movies that were in the music video? I spotted everything from Hellboy to Holy Motors Also yeah, I think AG and Sophie have both been playing this quite regularly. I've seen a lot of sophie videos where Sophie plays this and AG played it at the Echoplex and Pop Cube

Curiously enough, SOPHIE and A. G. also played another Life Sim track (Carrion I think might be the name?) from the This Life mixtape at the Echoplex as well so I would think that they're two of the major brains behind this "international community of DJs".
I really enjoy Life Sim's output; it seems to kind of be a reinterpretation of PC Music's usual tropes in a more ambient, less direct form. The video's fantastic, and maybe the reason that PC Music's been so quiet is that this video seems to have been a pretty major undertaking from an editing standpoint. The remix is fun, too, and I actually almost like it more than the original track.

Also I love how the video kind of fits perfectly into PC Music's whole ethos of celebrating popular culture and seeing it as being a meaningful reflection of popular emotions, ideas, outlooks, etc. Just as the PC Music crew draw so much of their inspiration from so-called "low brow" pop music, this video shows how popular film, even universally panned films like The Last Airbender or After Earth, both of which appear in the video, provokes strong emotions in audiences and to some extent reflects struggles and sentiments that we all face at some point in our lives.

I think 'IDL' might mean "in digital life," as a pun on "IRL". Would suit their ethos. Love the "ideal" interpretation also.

I love the Thy Slaughter remix because the drop is very reminiscent of their live appearances as a metal/punk group. The synths are very harsh and it sounds like a digitalized metal instrumental break. A lot of the synth sounds are very similar to the end of Bronze and I love that because it just sounds so damn cool.

"idl" could also be interpreted as "i dl", as in "i download". dunno if that's a stretch

I am not a movie guy at all, so I obviously suck at celbrities faces. This video inspired me to want to entertain myself with movies more and I wanted to watch every movie when I saw the video. I swear this idea came across my head but I knew it might've been to much research for just me. But I spotted The 5th Element, Armeggedon, Hunger Games (Not sure which movie), 2012, Apocalypto, The Hannah Montana Movie (lol) as well as some captivating clips like the woman at 4:19 among some others so lemme know
