if there's something that absolutely amazes me in music is the use of samples. they're used so much, in so many forms and variations, and every time i identify one in new song i feel so overwhelmed. how do you guys feel about it? do you have any examples you'd like to share? please do!

idk i see sampling like any other musical instrument like piano kinda??, like if it's done well i enjoy it ("blood on the leaves" and "loud places" are pretty great imo), but at the same time i also like those who can make music completely without it (part of what makes SOPHIE so great imo)
it's the cliche middle of the road stuff which i can't stand (now that i think about it that opinion applies to most things for me), mediocre sampling and generic piano are equally bad idk
but identifying samples is a really fun thing to do on the low, yeah! one of the few perks of a producer's ear is turning almost every song into a bizarre scavenger hunt for the tiny one-shot samples everywhere, although it doesn't nearly make up for ruining 80% of music forever lol
sorry for this rambling post i'm functioning on very little sleep right now

at the same time, there are samples that you don't even realize are there until you research your music (something i do a lot). a good example is this k-pop song that samples Streets of Cairo
it's so in your face once you know it, but until then i didn't even imagined that there was a sample on it
