Everything about this came together so well. It's rly a shame they didn't 'finish' the vid and make a version for the full song tho. That last scene is hype and then it just kinda... ends, lol. full ver. probably gonna show up v. soon

Now the real question is, what on earth inspired Namie or her lyricists to throw in all these obscure references to ancient Western culture?? This is a frickin pop song, not Neon Genesis Evangelion. I get the Babylon reference, it's where the Jews were kept in captivity for all those years, so I guess Namie doesn't want to be captive to a boy or a city that want to hold her down...kind of a harsh turn-down line for all those guys chasing her but she gets her point across But then Pygmalion is puzzling me. The reference of course is to the Greek myth where a sculptor falls in love with a statue he made, and Aphrodite grants his wish for it to come alive and then they get married. But where do Namie and Tokyo fit into this? Maybe Hatsune Mike is the statue come alive? That would give a whole other subtext to this song/video for sure actually i think that the Babylon reference is the biblical one that says that Babylon will fall. and it says that the lyrics were written by SOPHIE and Mitchie M. (Mitchie M. being Hatsune Miku's vocal producer), so i think it's safe to say it's all SOPHIE.

Sophie wrote the English lyrics and the other guy probably wrote the Japanese parts. Again, there are parts of the vocals which I hate, but I really wish the lyrics were the same as the demo, as I miss the "if you think your touch is gonna make me feel..." And the "I'm not saying I don't want what you're giving, but you couldn't give me that"

I like one voice in the song (the lower one) but the higher one is really grating

wow this is basically everything i have ever wanted since sophie/pc music came about lol at first i was bitter about the vocals too, but i realized the music video could have never been made using the original vocals because it just wouldn't make any sense. +the heavily processed vox are growing on me cause it makes the whole thing more unique

SOPHIE-ish?

I may be de-railing a bit here but does anyone know where that Miku design (the one with the 'torso LEDs' during the simulation scenes) actually originates from?
I originally thought it was put together for her appearance in P4:DAN (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GdRU9O-Du0), since it shares a kinda resemblance to android characters from the Persona series... But seeing it here too has me thrown off a bit.
Like I said, de-railing a bit and probs a long shot asking here but it has me curious. I haven't followed Vocaloid heavily in a long time lol.

I find Hatsune Miku interesting in that she is basically the original QT, blending real and fake, advertising and art, etc. But unlike QT I don't particularly enjoy listening to her. Maybe someday when virtual vocals have improved a lot I'll be able to look back and appreciate the uncanny valley aspect the way I do with songs that have less realistic vocoders like My Miss 2.0... right now it just doesn't work for me.

Wow I can't believe I didn't see this until now! Bout to watch I feel like I remember another thread where someone translated the Japanese lyrics slightly differently and they made more sense, but idk. Someone might want to look for that.

I remember listening to that exact video on repeat a long time ago! Kept me going until Lemonhard came out. The original B Who I want 2 B is still Significant to me Yeah! I wish I'd saved it now - was only a really short video but would be cool to watch it again. I just remembered I saved from the (rather redundant now) audio from it, tho, it's missing the cool visuals and my very first glance at sophie's hair mega.nz/#!K1xxlaaZ!PCgVdzOfrtfzU9a63ATikdni67YernGYLW1K2weVGhc

I still love the transition between the two, it's why I wanted to watch it again.
