Might as well remind that SOPHIE's still under NUMBERS and we don't know if he's going to join PCM once his contract expires.

Yes, but we're not sure where he fits in this whole Columbia deal.

I was resisting buying a SXSW wristband because I feel like this year can't possibly live up to the peak experience that was SXSW 2015 (it can't.) but maybe I will check it out after all...
OH WAIT THEY'RE ON SALE IN 7 HOURS??? THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH PRESSURE how am I supposed to make this decision so quickly

OK I was really sleep deprived when I wrote that and I guess I read the website wrong because they go on sale Thursday, not today. The local wristbands normally sell out pretty quickly I thought? Last year I bought them right when they went on sale though so idk. And yes last year was perfect! I went to 6 different PC Music events, it was basically PC Music fest (plus some other stuff was good too I guess lol) It was also conveniently scheduled the same week I had spring break. I guess I should probably check whether that's the same this year before I make a decision.

AFAIK... SOPHIE and A.G. Cook were the only official SXSW artists last year, maybe QT too. So SOPHIE being the only one announced isn't that much of a surprise. Any input friopi? SXSW is sooo much more then officially announced artists though.. I have never bought a wristband and 95% of the time I get into what I wanted to, sometimes having to pay $5-$10 cover for some places. Thought this was related and cool so I will leave this here...

Here's the second round of announcements for SXSW this year. Sadly no one PC Music affiliated on here yet, but there' still time.

I have never bought a wristband and 95% of the time I get into what I wanted to, sometimes having to pay $5-$10 cover for some places. Well last year the PC Music showcase was an official event, so I think all the roster for that event must have been official artists? Not sure if they appeared on this stage of the lineup releases though or if they were announced when the showcase itself was announced. Last year was the only time I've bought any kind of credentials, because I wanted to be absolutely sure I got into all the PC stuff. TBH I probably would have gotten into all the events without it, I just would have spent more time waiting in line and wouldn't have been able to see acts that had close time slots at different venues. Wristbands had a shorter line at Fader and Hype Hotel, can't remember which other venues. At the official showcase the wristbands actually did nothing helpful lol. Come to think of it, the reason I was so surprised to see this last night is because I could have sworn I saw SOPHIE announce a show somewhere else in the world the week of SXSW. Can't find where I saw that though. Also, can we just have a moment of silence for the time I missed seeing SOPHIE by 15 minutes and never knew what I was missing until a year later... #missedconnections

Yeah I remember just those 2 or 3 artists were officially announced on the SXSW site, then I guess as official showcases are announced, any associated acts are added to the SXSW site like the week of. It's my understanding that if they are official announced artists for SXSW, that they cannot perform or atleast advertise that they are appearing at Unofficial events. It's a contractual type of thing, obviously there are ways around that, that's why you see so many "+ Special Guests" taglines on the flyers.

Just by seeing if it appears on the schedule on the SXSW website? I guess this would explain why QT's performance at the Red Eyed Fly was only announced on instagram the day before... assuming that was unofficial, I don't really know!

I guess this would explain why QT's performance at the Red Eyed Fly was only announced on instagram the day before... assuming that was unofficial, I don't really know! Usually official showcases will say it somewhere on the flyer around town or on the event's website. If it's posted on the SXSW website, then it should be official or at least involve an official artist for that year's SXSW. It is kind of confusing but I found this... " If my act is accepted for SXSW 2016, can I schedule non-SXSW Austin shows around my SXSW performance? If accepted for a SXSW Music showcase, artists agree not to perform at any other public showcases in Austin between the hours of 7pm-2am on the dates of March 15-20, 2016. Artists acknowledge that a showcase slot at the SXSW Music Festival is a valuable commodity, and agree to limit their appearances at non-SXSW events to no more than one a day in order to not diminish attendance at the official showcase venue, and in order to maximize media, registrant, and public attention at their official SXSW showcase."There is also this... "New for 2016, SXSW is increasing the number of showcases that will admit badge and wristband holders only."Supposedly SXSW and the city of Austin has been getting pissed more and more off with the unofficial events and the craziness that is SXSW (too much to handle), so I think the city itself has been cutting back each year with issuing permits for unofficial events. Not to mention the heartbreaking unfortunate events of SXSW 2014 and perceived lack of safety for patrons. P.S. are you going to Anna Lunoe and Sleepy Tom on Friday?
