I feel like the whole "corny teen pop sensation" is enjoyable in a self-referential, meta way (same way with PCM). It stands completely isolated from any logical standpoint I'd take on music: complexity in composition, instrumentation, lyrics, overall atmosphere, etc. Like, I completely null my inner critic when it comes to this music and I don't have a single fucking clue why. There's some allure and charm in this genre of music, and I refuse to say that it's just pop music. It's so corny, so saturated in cheesy synths that it manifests it's own appeal. I couldn't listen to a pop song today that only had a few of these tacky elements: saccharine synths, early 2000's pop-rock drums. It's appeal lies in the extremities of all these things. In other words, go big or go home. That's a perfect way of putting it. I feel like exactly the same. It's good in almost an ironic way. Almost indescribable. That Miley song is great.

supremely dated song about chatting on A.I.M and making friends . The comment section is full of Negative Nigels that ignore the intrinsic quality of lyrics like: 'But I can't help it, I've just got to surf I gotta chat with my girlfriends online We're digital divas Believe us This Girl Wide Web is hot stuff My buddy list is growing all the time '

I'm sobbing cause I'm randomly remembering these bops from my childhood Okay when I get a chance I'm gonna post all my Disney channel pop bops cause like they basically invented teen pop.

I only discovered this last year but still it has that early-2000's nostalgia my sister is 8 years older than me so she was a tween when she got the DREAM cd. I need to go through all of her old CDs and find old teen pop classics. I know she also had a Hoku and B*Witched album...

I somehow found myself at the trl tour in 4th grade and was able to see Dream, along with destinys child, and 3lw, amongst others. Funny that it took me this long to appreciate that experience.
