Girl's Night Out does not sound like a hit in the whole 'recession' pop era. It honestly sounds like it was a hit in a weird dimension of y2k meets 80's pop from the past. I can see GNO becoming a gay club hit, reminds me of a bit of carly rae. Up & Down sounds straight like updated 90's trance pop. It contains similar chord structures but the whole 'beat drop' late is right from the early '10's. All in all, they might sound dated compared to the fresher tracks like from n1a or hannah's stuff but they're still better than anything the black eyed peas/pitbull/lmfao have released in the early 10's. why would it be a gay club hit when it's called girls night out? Realizing shit 1) Girls can be gay too. What a shock! 2) Gay guys identify with songs about girls, for obvious reasons. 3) Charli is one of the many queens of the twink gay scene. They eat her up every single time she's on that damned speaker.

Also saying that gays identify with songs about girls for obvious reasons is very stereotypical. I'm just using your logic on the sophie thread

Lmao anyways. We all know the top gay club bops have nothing to with gays. They just like the idea of strong women doing what they want on a club beat. Which is basically what Girls Night Out is. "No boys no boys" just translates to " no straights no straights" lmao it's not that deep, it Is what is.
It's a community that rather support straight female artists more than openly gay ones.

IT sounds SOOOO GOOOOOOOOD Sounds the same as the Sónar and Diplo & Friends version to me, but with Charli singing it. the breakdown at ~1:28 is significantly different

GNO woulda been a top 10 during 2008-2012 when dance music had that huge takeover and the EDM scene skyrocketed to what it is today. I know you guys love GNO but let's be REALL. The last real dance song that entered top 20 and top 10 was This Is What You Came For. And though that song is cute af, it's probably gonna be a gay anthem the same way Dirty Talk by Wynter Gordon is an iconic gay bop (if you don't know, go to a gay club lmao). U&D is in the same vain but has more of the 90's nostalgia that's really popular. U&D will probably be more popular than GNO. U&D>>>>>>>>>GNO. I dunno, all my basic GP friends have really liked it and always ask me when it's coming out. Maybe we all just have different opinions about what's "fresh."

Ohhh! I mean, I think it's "dance" but it doesn't sound like...House-y or anything. It sounds more like just an upbeat pop song to me haha

>Charli XCX >mainstream
lol
If Charlotte's mainstream, Robyn also is, and she was featured in a dance track not long ago.

Everyone pretty much knows Charli from the Sucker era and we really couldn't escape Fancy and her songs from sucker. And they still play her songs from Sucker on the radio. It's so random, you'll just hear Boom clap & Break the Rules. Robyn is known cause she's iconic but she's like Kylie Minogue. Big International artist but not in the mainstream circuit.

No. They still play Dancing on My Own and With Every Heartbeat on the radio, too. They're comparable. Just because you don't recognize them as such, doesn't mean they're not. They still use Robyn songs in TV show soundtracks (even ignoring the use on Drag Race, because one could argue that DR is not mainstream), but, aside from Scream Queens, I've never seen a Charli song featured on a TV show.
