A bit of a tangent, but why is everyone so adamant that PC Music Vol 2 is actually a thing? they havent even released enough main label tracks to make 10 (without EP duplicates) since the last one I'm conscious this sounds like snobbery but I'm genuinely curious if I've missed something at this point But PC Music Vol 2 HAS to be coming surely! It just makes sense. They have to be promoting something with Pop Cosmos. Why do a promotional show without anything to promote?

(less facetiously, theres no guarantee its PCMV2)

This is where quality over quantity comes in. Everything that PC Music produces has been pretty consistent in being amazing. Now, imagine if you had poorly executed versions of already fantastic songs being churned out at a daily rate. It would suck, and you wouldn't like PC Music anymore.

The issue is that I KNOW they have so many great quality songs that don't get released (My Girl, Distant Promise, that untitled Lil Data song, etc).

There's only so many times I can listen to that live Pitchfork video version that cuts out!

I don't think the frequency of new content is too bad. It seems to be getting bigger and bigger especially with the collabs with bigger artists like XCX and Carly Rae Jepsen.
I'm really really dying from no new QT stuff though.

My post wasn't created so much as to address the issue of unreleased stuff as it was to address the content distribution rate in general. Of course PCM has lot's of great unreleased songs, I wholeheartedly agree with you that it's sort of disappointing we don't get to hear them now. But even if these songs were released, PCM would still be a label that produces content at (arguably) a relatively slow rate, compared to many other labels and collectives. Then again, maybe there are blow-out-of-the-water AMAZING tracks that our ears are virgins to that will completely surprise us when they arrive!

I have kinda been assuming that much of it is to do w the Columbia sign on thing. Say for example negotiations were slow, then say PC releases were on freeze during that time. Next you're under contract after signup and having to prioritise what releases there will be, schedule, formats etc. And Columbia want buy in and agreement w all that etc. Dunno, these hold ups prolly normal w big label gigs. But time passes and so do trends and hot product shouldn't be delivered cold, feel like big labels have poor track record in understanding this.

While we're waiting... everyone in PC Music withdrawal should check out James Ferraro's new album Human Story 3 if u haven't already. Essential uncanny valley classical retro futurist core.
