I do not understand why they keep messing with these vocals. First B who I want 2 be and now Koi. I understand B Who I want 2 B is completely different singer and Koi is still Le1f but what the hell. Do they honestly think this sounds better? Completely takes away from the energy the vocals are way to front and center ruins Le1fs flow and energy for me. The production is the star of this track and should be featured as such. Ughhh man I hope the originals of these get leaked some day they are two of my favs. Sophie is the shit btw best sound designer I have heard apart from maybe Arca. Alright I'm done complaining. Still excited for new Sophie.

I like the new chorus a lot, the flow on the new song isn't as exciting but it fits more with Le1f's usual style.
Fingers crossed for an instrumental!

Gonna go out on a limb here and say I enjoy this way more than any bootleg I've heard so far. I think the vocal production/doubletracking really helps blend Le1f's voice in with the rest of the texture in the song, I actually had doubts about whether or not I'd like this song every time I heard his clean/live vocal over this instrumental, but whoever tracked and mixed the vocals did a really good job here imo I do not understand why they keep messing with these vocals. First B who I want 2 be and now Koi. I understand B Who I want 2 B is completely different singer and Koi is still Le1f but what the hell. Do they honestly think this sounds better? Not sure who this mythical "they" is you're talking about, but I think the reality of selling your instrumentals to other artists is that oftentimes the vocal recording and mixing process is actually out of your hands. Not sure if this is the case with SOPHIE, maybe he's very hands on with people who enlist his wizardry and skill, but I doubt it with someone as high-profile as Namie Amuro. I suspect her personal team handled vocal recording and SOPHIE sent them the instrumental, which is why it has that, er, "Ms. Roboto" sound. But tbh this is conjecture, I think it's quite possible SOPHIE often handles recording and mixing vocals for the artists he works with. I guess my point is, your production cannot be treated as "the star" if the track will appear under another artist's name. If anything, Le1f is a very brave artist for choosing to write over this particular beat, there's so much going on behind his rap that the production does indeed want to become "the star," but the vocals are mixed high enough and layered enough that they don't get lost in the chaos. Top-notch, can't wait for "Body Mop" that one is insane

Top-notch, can't wait for "Body Mop" that one is insane "They" being whoever has the final say on the master of these two tracks, my guess is a combination of Le1f and the engineers he works with. Sophie might be involved or he might not be I have no idea. The vocals are growing on me a bit after several listens through different speakers but still not what I was hoping for. I can just go by what I hear and what I like and for me these vocals just seem a little off, but still much better than what "they" did with B Who I Want 2 B. The original vocals on that track were perfect imo. I'm sure some will agree with me and others won't thats the great thing about music it affects all of us in different ways. Now who knows when that 4 track Sophie EP is coming out? My guess is September.

it gets me exactly like the video. like there's water bubbles and koi floating around me while i'm vogueing in a box of pink glass with vapor sweeping from my moves~ (that's not in the video, but that's what i'm feeling. it gets me real QT tbh)

I've warmed up to the vocals quite a bit, but I'd still reeeeeally like an instrumental as this is probs my favorite (released) SOPHIE production. Really evokes the sensation of sliding down a water slide or something, which has been a stated goal of SOPHIE's music.

just in case anyone wants it: play.spotify.com/album/70SoTo4t69Dg1bbnUOBDYu
So the vocals: I like LE1F a lot outside of this, and I think his studios are better than lives only because he's more relaxed and for song as sexual as this, it works so much better for me. I've lost count of the number of times I've screamed "I'm hotter than a hot spring, hotter than Bikram yoga" with the live versions (full disclosure, I'm gay, I eat this stuff up). The only thing I'm not sold on is that secondary voice "I'm sorry that I'm not sorry" but even on the second play it's growing on me. But hearing the actual sounds SOPHIE made in real high quality is SO REFRESHING UGH.
