Nobody I know is offended by these comments. I feel sort of second hand offended by these comments because I'm Swedish and everyone always talks to me about clogs which aren't even Swedish to begin with and I'm a white person. Wait, are you trolling?......plz be trolling...

I'm curious: What if she is in fact a racist? Would you stop listening to her music and PC music? I certainly wouldn't support her music and I would try to distance myself from it a bit but I imagine if still listen to the stuff I have every now and then because it's still something I enjoy. Like I mean I'm guilty of dancing to blurred lines when it's Played even if I don't at all approve of the artist lol

Wait, are you trolling?......plz be trolling... Woops sorry missed this. Dunno if you're asking if I'm trolling about being offended or about the clogs thing lol. What I meant by my 'second hand offence' is I know how shitty it feels when foreigners think you're so different because your culture is different. Obv I'm still white and have no idea how racism to a poc feels but I mean I'm still aware of xenophobia to some degree. And yes people do ask me if I wear clogs all the time lol. Also mention ikea a lot ('oh man I love the meatballs in ikea can you make them??') and the Swedish chef from the muppets hahah

Being offended is okay. If you expect to go through your whole life without being offended, I'm sorry but you need to get real. I'm NOT excusing racism but to think it's never going to happen is unrealistic.
"Life is made up of failure and disappointment, People won’t like you, that person may not love you back, kids are really cruel, work sucks, it’s hard to be good at something, talent is rare, people suffer, people grow old, people die. It's better to acknowledge the realities of the world and grappling with them and processing them and then moving on, better prepared to navigate an often hostile or indifferent world."

EDIT: Actually, I can't be fucked arguing anymore. Some of you just really need to educate yourselves or just not engage in conversations like this if your argument boils down to "learn not to be so offended".

I'm a little upset that what I believe was an attempt at opening up a dialogue was boiled down by you in such a way... That wasnt what I meant... *sigh*

People seem to be forgetting that Danny L Harle/Dux Content worked with people like Million Dollar Extreme/Sam Hyde early on. The conceptual side of the label is pretty heavily rooted in satire. What GFOTY said wasn't racist, but it was poorly executed and in bad taste. In more capable hands, the priveleged, blissfully ignorant rich white girl character she's playing could get away with a joke like that, but her field day texts seemed too innocuous and subtle to be followed by a joke like that from out of left field. Her apology addresses this, but it doesn't address the people she offended directly, which is probably why there's still a stink about it.

i took this as a cringey joke about appropriation - sort of a diss to bombay bicycle club, NOT to the Diabatés... but it was still poorly done....

appropriation is a really... really stupid concept. culture doesn't exist in a vacuum, and certain cultures influence others. is it appropriation when japan started to adapt western media, technology, and culture post WWII? we live in a very open world - the internet helps us interact with people all across the globe, and taking notice of other cultures is partially why it's such an interesting tool to use. it's why 4chan, and thus, meme culture, came to be - through 2chan, a japanese imageboard. it's the nature of modern society and technology.
it's also flat out ignorant of how cultures even form to discourage integration. hell, most modern cuisine is the result of taking ingredients, recipes, and cultural foods from certain places, and implementing them into your culture's food. italian pizza was based on greek pizza, and then inspired american pizza and chicago deep dish. mexican influence is what causes some southern states to observe cinco de mayo and heavily integrate mexican cooking into their diet.
hell, if "appropration" hadn't happened, we wouldn't have half the music genres that we do today. certain cultures being "off limits" just causes them to stagnate and encourages segregation instead of unity
